BEDA day 20

Ok I apologize for my absence. In case you didn't know, I had fundamentals week for marching band this week and I've been leaving my house at 8 AM and getting back at 11 PM almost everyday with a whole lot of marching inbetween. Also I haven't really had a lot of time to read any other blogs which I feel bad about, cause there's only about 10 or so days left in BEDA.

Anyway, our last day was today and to end the week the entire band has a picnic and the members of the band get a chance to throw water balloons and buckets full of water at their section and squad leaders. So I got pretty soaked today, but it was fun and my section is awesome :)

Tonight I'm going my first party of the year and I am excite!!

BEDAY day i don't even know anymore

So a really cool thing happened in band today. We (my fellow leaders of the flute section and I) had about 15 minutes left in rehearsal and wanted to practice marching and playing at the same time. Then we saw the tuba section was doing the same thing, so we go over to them and ask if we can join and they said yes. So we all played our fight song together and it sounded weird but cool. Then we saw the euphoniums who were right by us practicing, and asked if they wanted to join. So now we had the flutes, tubas, and euphoniums all playing different parts of our fight song, and it was the weirdest thing to listen too, but still sounded pretty cool.

Then the saxes joined, then the guard ran over, then the clarinets, then the mellophones, then the trumpets. And pretty soon we had the whole band plus drum majors plus the leadership (me) high stepping it down the field playing our fight song for the first time that year. And it was fucking awesome.

Random stuff like that is why I love band so much. We work super hard during our fundamentals week, and this was just one way to show that it will be worth while. This makes me excited for what's to come for our season. Not just the made of awesome shows we're doing (patriotic, boy band, beatles, styx and rolling stones), but of the people who make this band what it is.

BEDA day 14

Hello there!
Today I learned how to be a leader in a marching band. That's pretty much all I did today. And I saw some more people from college who I haven't seen in months. But seriously I was in this clinic from about 10 till 8:30 with about 2 hours worth of breaks. It was all interesting, but I'm kind of wiped right now. And I have to start marching tomorrow so that's gonna wipe me out a bit more. That's ok, that's what we do this week.

Tomorrow I get to meet the 17 new people joining the flicc (flute and piccolo) section. I'm excited!! I've talked to a few of them, but I can't wait to meet them!

BEDA day 13

This has been an awesome day.

I went to visit my grandparents and aunt for a bit and listened to my Papou (grandpa) talk about how my hair should be styled a different way, as I remind him of my name and age. *sigh* old people.

Anywho, after that visit I moved the last bit of my stuff into my NEW APARTMENT. If you follow me on twitter, you know I've been talking about this for a while and now I can say I'm officially moved in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only that, but 2 out of 3 of my roommates are all moved in as well and I got to hang out with them (they're really good friends of mine whom I've missed tremendously) for the first time in a very long time tonight. So I'm just beaming with happiness because I've missed these 2 girls so much and it's so great to be back in Bowling Green.

Tomorrow I start leadership training for marching band. Really hoping I"m gonna make a good squad leader.

BEDA day 12

Hello lovelies

Well my summer's just about over so in today's blog I wanted to recap some ups and downs of my summer.

UPS:
-Got to attend church camp as a counselor which was such an enlightening experience and I felt so refreshed after attending because it's been about 2 years since I've been there. Also met really awesome people who helped me become a better counselor and person in general.
- Discovered Doctor Who. I've heard about Doctor Who for the longest time, but didn't have time to watch the series so the month of May was my chance. OMG. I got hooked in season 2. Such good plot, and writing, and acting, I don't know how I haven't seen this before.
- Went on vacation with my cousins. I had more fun than I thought cause all my cousins on the trip were guys (6 to be exact plus my 2 brothers) but we all enjoyed each others company and had fun jumping waves in the ocean for hours and hours.
-Late night skype chats. These are always lovely when I'm bored at night and everyone is my house is asleep at 11. Thank you never ending skype chat for being awesome as always. :))

DOWNS:
- Couldn't find a job. I applied to 15 places that I hadn't applied to before, after the place I worked at last summer closed down. Stupid economy. So needless to say my bank account is much lower than normal -_-
- Hardly any of my friends from home were home. Most were off at their colleges doing summer programs, or studying abroad. I missed them, but I'm kinda of glad for them that they weren't stuck here with hardly anything to do this summer.

That's all I can think of right now. Summer 11 wasn't the greatest summer, but it had it's moments.

BEDA day 11

This one time I had a dream that fairies had come to my bedroom, gave me pixie dust and transported me to the nearest ocean. There I found my good friend Celine trying to fight off bumblebees with bubbles. I assisted her and we were victorious in the battle. Then we got pizza together, and just as I was about to enjoy the deliciousness....... I woke up cause I had to poop.

BEDA day 10

Ok so I just wrote a post about how today wasn't all that interesting, and I deleted it because I TOTALLY FORGOT to mention something super important.

One of my best friends got engaged!!

Now I knew she was gonna get engaged this summer cause her boyfriend/fiance told me he would if they were still together and I had a feeling it would happen when he went on vacation with her family. So it was a matter of time before she got her rock, and last night she texted me a picture of her finger!!

I'm happy for them, I really am. The only thing is that they've been dating for only a year and a few months, so I do think they're rushing things. She's almost 20 and he's 24, she still has 2 more years of school and he's looking for work (aka a big boy job). So the circumstances and timing isn't the best, but honestly I was there when they first met and they've had a crazy good connection ever since.

So I wish them all the love and luck in the world, and can't wait for the wedding!!! (ps my friend told me when she does get married she wants me as her maid of honor. I feel blessed to have been chosen ^_^)

BEDA day 9

Wow Day 9 already? I'm surprised I've had that much material for blogs for 9 days.

So ummm.

yeah

Today my voice teacher called me and told me she won't be returning to my school because she got a better full time position somewhere else. I totally understand and respect her decision, but I have really improved vocally this past year with her and she picked out really good songs for me. She's already my 2nd teacher and I was hoping she would stick :((((. Ah well. Life goes on.

My kids were better in vacation church school today. I got them under control with more adults and a behavior chart when I track how many times I tell them to be quiet.

Woohoo. Excitement. 4 days till move in ^_^

BEDA day 8

I like little kids.
I like playing with them.
I like taking care of them.
I don't like when they don't listen to me.
I don't like when I have to raise my voice 2354435 times to tell them to hush.
I don't like being afraid of losing my voice.
I hope when I become a teacher, my students won't run around the room and interrupt me constantly.
I like you for reading this.
I understand that the first day with a class is always hard.
I like that it will be better tomorrow.

BEDA day 7

I keep having to check the date to make sure I'm on the right BEDA day.

Sooo today I went to my aunt and uncle's house and hung out with a bunch of family which was pretty good cause it will be a while until I get to do that again since I'm leaving in SIX days.

As for my current events, I'm watching Glee on Netflix from last year before it was too bad. Right now they're singing Don't Stop with the whole cast and I really like this version better than when they did it in the first episode. Also as I sing along, it really makes me miss singing.

Anywho I start my first day teaching music at my church's vacation church school, and I'm excite! I've done this in past years but it was always with another teacher. This year I'm on my own, so that will be interesting. But I'm prepared and ready to go.

Listening to: Bohemian Rhapsody (Glee version) (I'm so proud of my self I spelled that right the first time ^_^)

BEDA day 6

I may be an hour late, but I did not forget about you!!

Today my mom and I discovered this show on Lifetime called Dance Moms. It's pretty much Toddlers and Tiaras but for dance class. Now normally I hate reality shows (but I do have a guilty pleasure one that I will not reveal here) but this one really caught my attention because I took dance classes from ages 3 to 17. This show featured 9 year olds in a competition group with this bitch of an instructor who demands super long rehearsals and perfection. I felt so bad for these little girls competing, but I remember what it's like.

I was never in a competition group, too much time and money involved in it but I remember how those girls were drilled and drilled and drilled and competitions all the time with a million routines to remember. Watching this show brought me back to that, because I was a part of that too, even though I didn't compete. Again I feel bad for those girls, but that's part of the reason I wasn't in a competition group. I was plenty good enough (I can still do the splits) but I was in it for fun.

So that was a little insight into Maria's childhood. Hope you enjoyed the ride. :P

BEDA day 5

Crap. It's already day 5 and I'm running out of things to talk about. Let's start with my day.

Went to the dentist aka my uncle whose practically my cousin and made of awesome. Today he told me about his crazy shenanigans in college, which was amusing. Also went with my brother to go buy things for his dorm room, and let me tell you how annoying it is to go shopping with an 19 year old boy who refuses to buy a shower caddy cause it's too girly *rolls eyes*.  But we got the job done, and now I'm sitting here looking for a good movie on netflix.

Moving in is a pain the kolaki (yes I'm typing a lot of Greek today)but a week from Saturday I'll be all moved in and it will be great :))). I'm so old, soon I have to pay bills and rent and such and it's weird to imagine me doing that. Mama I'm a big girl now.

BEDA day 2

So this summer I've been reading the Jessica Darling series (Sloppy Firsts, Second helpings, Charmed Thirds, etc.) by Megan McCafferty . The other day I got the last one Perfect Fifths, and I can't wait to really get into it. The books follow Jessica from high school till about her mid-twenties and there's always one character who sticks with Jessica throughout the books, and his name is Marcus Flutie. Marcus is a great character, he's the bad boy turned good, learned how to love, turned his life around, all that good stuff. Seeing him be together through thick and thin with Jessica has been a a ride for sure, but I can't wait to see how it ends, and I hope it ends well.

Megan McCafferty is a great writer, she's witty, funny, and adorable at the same time. I can't wait to read more of her stuff once I'm done with Perfect Fifths.

Have you read Sloppy Firsts and co.?

BEDA day 1

So I'm new to this whole BEDA deal, and I'm not entirely sure what I'm suppose to write about. So this blog with be filled with my day to day activities along with whatever music I'm listening to, whatever's on my mind of course.

Anyway, today I hung out with one of my dearest and oldest friends whom I haven't seen since May, and before that since January. We went "shopping" (I put shopping in quotes cause we didn't really buy anything we just looked at stuff) and got ice cream and shared stories about our lives. I really value my time with her because we only get to see each other a few times a year, and she's the nicest person I've ever met. I asked her today how she has put up with me all these years (since we've been friends since 2nd grade) and she said it's not putting up with me, it's enjoying our time together. So that was the highlight of my day ^_^
